Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the meetings Management Section in the Mission Support Division Coordination Service. The incumbent reports to the Deputy Director of Mission Support.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Mission Support, the Conference Services Officer is responsible for the following duties:
- Analyze requests from substantive offices for meetings to be included in the calendar of conferences and meetings of the United Nations;
- Plan and coordinate meetings, allocating conference facilities and services in accordance with established entitlements, legislative mandates and budgetary resources;
- Coordinate with substantive offices to ensure that they have the capability and resources to meet the programmes as proposed;
- Negotiate changes in dates, venues and /or provision of conference services as deemed appropriate;
- Monitor the work of assigned committees for efficient utilization of conference resources and advise substantive offices on procedures and possible cost-effective measures;
- Analyze draft resolutions and provide assessments of conference-servicing implications needed for the issuance of OPPBA statements of programme budget implications of these resolutions when required;
- Confirm the services to be allocated to meetings at and away from Headquarters;
- Schedule additional and urgent meetings and ensure proper servicing of these meetings by evaluating their needs and availability of additional resources required;
- Undertake missions with overall responsibility for the planning of designated conferences away from established Headquarters and serve as the representative of the Organization/Department;
- Advise host government officials on logistics, financial and other requirements and negotiates the terms of the Host Country Agreement;
- Perform other related duties as required

- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management or related area.
- A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in administration, conference management or related field is required.
- Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level university degree recognized by the United Nations.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Working knowledge of French is desirable
Essessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
