for this position is done on a local basis. Passing the United Nations Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) or the Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters, ECA, ESCWA, UNOG, UNOV, ICTR, or ICTY is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Service category in the United Nations Secretariat.

Organizational Setting and Reporting
This post is located in the Printing Section, Production and Support Service, Division of Conference Management.
Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Chief, Production Unit, and the direct supervision of the Chief of Offset/Digital Printing Sub-unit in the Printing Section, the incumbent:
- Is responsible for scheduling and operating various format recto only, recto-verso, single-colour, two-colour and four-colour offset printing presses as well as digital printing presses.
- Applies graphic arts techniques and standards to accomplish reproduction work appropriately after consulting the technical information on the job card.
- Assists in preparation of the imposition and making plates using computer-to-plate system (CTP). Places and positions pages of text and illustrations precisely to the desired format and the finish required by the binding process.
- Sets up the presses manually and electronically according to the type of paper or board to be printed on.
- Accurately determines colour tone and density to meet clients' wishes (for photographs, illustrations, graphics etc.).
- Oversees the operation of the press, print speed and print output quality.
- Is responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and cleaning the machines, replacing consumables and effecting minor repairs so as to keep the equipment in perfect working order.
- Prints publications, documents, business cards, compliments slips, letterheads and various stationery items in correct quantities.
- Cuts paper and card on an electronic guillotine.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized training/courses in the field of offset/digital printing evidenced by a 'Certificat Fédéral de Capacité', or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- At least five years of practical experience in operating offset printing presses with computerized controls.
- Some experience in CTP (Computer-to-Plate) and digital printing process is required.
- Also required, some experience in ancillary printing processes.
- Qualifiying years of experience are calculated following receipt of the high school or secondary school diploma
- Fluency in English or French and knowledge of the other language is required.
