Organizational Setting and Reporting
  • The internship in the Emergency Preparedness and Support Team within the Office of Human Resources Management of the Department of Management is for three months, with possibility of extension, pending the Section's needs.
  • The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
  • Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Section to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Team in updating and managing social media accounts and EPST Website.
  • Logistical and Administrative Support for Training Programs: coordinate with various offices on preparing for training programs.
  • Assist with the development of on-line programmes.
  • Research and develop materials for training programmes and social media.
  • Assist with creation of PowerPoint presentations and other marketing materials for outreach.
  • Work with the team to plan and execute events, and undertake other tasks in support of the EPST outputs and priorities.

Education
Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Applicants must be computer literate in standard office software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideas of the Charter; and have demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
