RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, and the general guidance of the Director of the Division of Country Programmes, the incumbent will: - Work with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects. He/she will thus monitor and analyse specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and recommend corrective actions to Chief and technical staff, liaise with relevant parties, identify and conduct follow-up actions.
  • Ensure timely follow up and monitoring of programme activities on the Projects Portal.
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of the project work plans in collaboration with technical sections.
  • Coordinate activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and preparation of related documents/reports.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs e.g. draft background papers, briefing / analytical notes, section's reports and inputs to publications.
  • Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc. This includes proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics.
  • Participate in the development of training workshops, seminars.
  • Participate in field missions and provide substantive support in doing so.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Education
  • University degree in development studies, business administration, economics or a related field.
Note
A candidate possessing an advanced university degree in one of the above fields may be accepted with a total of only two years of relevant professional experience.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project development and implementation of technical cooperation projects would be an advantage.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment will constitute an advantage.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) environment and recent trends in trade development.
  • Uses the Internet and computer software competently.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of trade and export development issues;
  • needs assessment and project management.
Languages
  • Advanced knowledge of English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
