The Human Resources Team
The Human Resources (HR) team, comprised of 30 members, sits in our Budapest, London and New York offices but supports our staff across: Washington DC, Baltimore, New York, Rio de Janeiro, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Tunis, Amman, Singapore, Chiang Mai, Bangalore, Budapest and soon to expand to more locations. The team is comprised of generalists spanning the North America/Latin America, Europe & Eurasia, Middle East & North Africa & South West Asia, and Asia Pacific regions, as well as, HR specialists comprised of Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Compensation & Benefits, and Recruitment. We also work in partnership with the Heads of HR of our various foundations around the globe.
We are seeking a highly dynamic, efficient, and emotionally intelligent Senior HR Manager to lead our New York based Human Resources Generalist function. The Human Resources team in New York provides support to around 500 employees based in the New York, Washington, DC and Baltimore offices and works closely with international offices and colleagues. The Senior HR Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Human Resources and manage a four person team.
Job Profile
- support the Deputy Director in the creation of a long-term strategy to enhance the efficacy of the HR generalist function in the US
- design effective and efficient HR procedures and processes for generalist functions which align to the organization's strategy and vision
- plan, prioritize, organize, and manage HR generalist workflow and projects.
- advise on best practices to achieve excellent results while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal employment law; maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging employment legislation and codes of practice, highlighting any amendments as appropriate
- oversee the administration of the benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term/short-term disability insurances, tuition reimbursement, transit and the 403b program
- provide guidance, support and counsel to employees on defined employee relations' issues, as needed
- oversee the full life cycle of employees, from hire to termination, effectively managing the processes for the employee and manager and ensuring data integrity in our HR systems
- oversee immigration processes including visa extensions and permanent residency applications
- develop and maintain employee files and other pertinent employee information
- oversee US payroll administration
- develop a trusting consultative relationship with senior managers and establish credibility with all levels of management to enable successful implementation of HR and change initiatives
- participate in global projects as needed
- proven experience managing a team of HR generalists; minimum 7-10 years work experience with a minimum of 4 years managing staff
- experience dealing with and advising line managers on employee relations issues
- knowledge of government regulations, including FLSA, COBRA, ERISA, and other employment laws and regulations;
- familiarity with Workday HRIS and Ceridian payroll software preferred
- familiarity with US immigration laws preferred
- experience streamlining and integrating HR systems and processes;
- experience working successfully within a global, matrix organization with a complex organization structure, experience in non-profit or foundations is a plus;

- BA is required; Master's degree in HR preferred
