Knowledge and Intellectual Capital Principal Officer
Background : We are seeking a Knowledge and Intellectual Capital Principal Officer who will lead IIC's efforts to handle the know-how gathered in our operations, transactions and market activities, tapping into connections with other internal, IDB Group, and external stakeholders.
The team : The role of the new Analytics, Knowledge and Information Division (AKI) ascribed to the Strategy and Development Department (DSP), will be to unleash and coordinate the generation, collection, organization, analysis, dissemination, and leverage of IIC's operational, institutional, and business insights and intellectual capital. It will do so in ways that allow the organization to become more strategic, effective, efficient and accountable. The Division will be composed of three core teams: (i) Business Analytics; (ii) Knowledge and Intellectual Capital; and (iii) Information Technology.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the development of a formal knowledge strategy and governance process for how IIC invests in knowledge.
  • Identify and map IIC's creative knowledge and intellectual assets for competitive advantage, crafting tools, and using technology solutions to make them available for internal dissemination.
  • Lead the design and implementation of tools and technological solutions to bring together and develop lessons learned and best practices for our transactions, with the objective to share knowledge and ensure IT support and capabilities to design an intellectual capital platform.
  • Lead the definition of quality standards and standard methodologies for knowledge dissemination publications and activities across the organization, serving as the Knowledge Center of Excellence for the institution.
  • Oversee the liaison with IDB's Knowledge Department (except for training activities), to ensure that analytical work undertaken in the IDB Group includes and benefits from public and private sector perspectives, and that insights and perspectives learned from IDB Group knowledge products are disseminated throughout the Corporation in a way that promotes IIC's business goals.
  • Plan and coordinate IIC research activities to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and providing a more effective and direct link with IDB's research and sectoral experts.
  • Provide input to the Human Resources team training function, assisting in the identification of talents and skills required to improve IIC's institutional know-how.
  • Keep the institution at the forefront of creative thinking by identifying and disseminating standrad methodologies, novel ideas and insights, and introducing tools and activities to cultivate creative thinking.
  • Identify and disseminate lessons learned from all innovation initiatives (both successful and unsuccessful) that allow IIC the upscaling, mainstreaming or replication of successful initiatives and learning from failure.
  • Manage to completion legacy innovation initiatives that have been prioritized in the innovation framework (e.g., FINPYME Forum, Startup Week, Demand Solutions, etc.).
  • Identify new market spaces, innovative ways, disruptive trends and opportunities, with emphasis in priority sectors for the IIC, and disseminating these opportunities within the organization.
  • Generate knowledge products (MOOCs, blogs, knowledge management platforms, etc.), leveraging from and contributing to similar initiatives of the IDBG based on priorities set forth in IIC's Innovation Framework.
Skills you'll need: Education: An advanced degree (at least Master's, PhD or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Knowledge Management or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience, including working in a multinational environment, as well as a demonstrable track record and recognition as a technical guide in knowledge management and intellectual capital. Knowledge and/or experience in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is a significant plus.
Languages: Oral and written professional proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.
